Research into the Skills Development Support for Ex-Mineworkers in the Mining and Minerals Sector (MMS) Covering the Period 2015-2017.
The main purpose of this study was to ascertain the effectiveness of such interventions in improving and sustaining the livelihood of the ex-mineworkers across all provinces in South Africa.
The study employed mainly qualitative methods based on an ethnographic approach, where the ex-mineworkers were observed in their natural settings. Observations were done concurrently with in-depth interviews to better understand the challenges experienced post-mining.
