Socio-Economic Survey and Structural Assessment of the West Rand (Bekkersdal) Hostels. This project was sub-contracted to UCS by Levino Consulting and Construction.
The purposed of the study was to enable the Gauteng, Human Settlements department to understand the population of Bekkersdal hostel (West Rand) residents.
The study was centered on the following socio-economic themes and sub-themes, population, demographic information, income sources, and forms of local economy and their influence.
Both quantitative and qualitative research approaches were used in the study to profile occupants and gain a deeper understanding of their views and opinions towards hostel re-development.
