The Socio-Economic Impact of Gambling in Gauteng Province. The full scope of the study included the ‘Impact of responsible gambling messages/campaigns and the socio-economic impact of gambling in Gauteng province’.
The broader aims of the study were to assess the effectiveness of responsible gambling campaigns and messages and to assess the socio-economic impact of gambling within Gauteng province.
A combination of quantitative and qualitative research approaches centered on a structured questionnaire and in-depth interviews with gamblers at casinos, selected sport-betting houses, LPMs and bingo halls in each of the five regions in Gauteng province was deemed the appropriate way to gather information.
